Contingent capture (CC) theory postulates that attention can only be captured by top-down matching stimuli. Although the contingent capture of attention is a well-known and thoroughly studied phenomenon, there is still no consensus on the characteristics of the top-down template which guides the search for colors. We tried to replicate the classical contingent capture effect on color (Experiment 1) and then added linguistic processing to this perceptual effect (Experiment 2).

However, the role of legal status is less clear, while factors like insight, exposure to violence and affective disorders have not been addressed adequately. The present study aims at assessing PTSD rates after hospitalization and evaluating the potential role of these factors.

The aim of this study was to determine if edentulous persons could be identified using panoramic images by: I) investigating the possibility of matching two panoramic radiographs of the same person obtained on two different occasions, II) determining what anatomical features are used as the base for matching, III) investigating if oral and maxillofacial radiologists (OMR) and dentists who were not oral and maxillofacial radiologists (NOMR) differed in their ability to match the images, and IV) determining if the time elapsed between the images affected the results or the confidence of the match. Panoramic image pairs from 19 patients obtained on two different occasions were included, plus 10 images from other edentulous patients. The time elapsed between the image pairs varied between 4 months and 6 years.

Purpose: During needle interventions, successful automated detection of the needle immediately after insertion is necessary to allow the physician identify and correct any misalignment of the needle and the target at early stages, which reduces needle passes and improves health outcomes.
Methods: We present a novel approach to localize partially inserted needles in 3D ultrasound volume with high precision using convolutional neural networks. We propose two methods based on patch classification and semantic segmentation of the needle from orthogonal 2D cross-sections extracted from the volume.
Commercially available intracardiac echo (ICE) catheters face a trade-off between viewing depth and resolution. Frequency-tunable ICE probes would offer versatility of choice between penetration or resolution imaging within a single device. In this phantom study, the imaging performance of a novel, frequency-tunable, 32-element, 1-D CMUT array integrated with front-end electronics is evaluated.
