[The adjuvant therapy within the scope of the combined treatment of the rectum carcinoma].

The analysis of treatment results of 143 patients with rectal cancer demonstrated, that the addition of the adjuvant radio- and chemotherapy to the radical surgery significantly increases the 3 year overall and disease-free survival. The best results were achieved by the combination of all three treatment modalities. Early toxicity effects of the adjuvant chemotherapy were transient and did not influence the overall treatment efficacy.

[Lipid metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with and without the metabolic syndrome].

There were observed 92 female patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: 71 patients were with metabolic syndrome and 21 patients without metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome was diagnosis based on WHO criteria (1999). The lipid spectrum comparative test at the two examined groups revealed that patients having type 2 diabetes mellitus with metabolic syndrome have to a greater extent disorder in common cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, lowest-density lipoprotein and triglycerides.

[The role of national meat dishes in infecting the population of Azerbaijan with taeniarhynchiasis].
