The prevalence of subclinical hypothyroidism (SH) is large and according to various studies is from 3 to 21%. In the Russian Federation to date, there are no major epidemiological studies assessing the functional state of the thyroid gland. It seems relevant to study the TSH level in patients who turned to the clinical units of a large hospital in the North-West region to determine the prevalence of thyroid dysfunction in patients of different sex and age.

Physiological and Biochemical Response of Winter Triticale Crowns at Different Soil Moisture Levels.

Background And Objective: The spring growth of winter cereals depends on the viability of the crowns as it is the key organ of the spring renewal of leaves, stems and roots. After the plants out of wintering, the impact of stressful conditions in the spring period negatively affects the viability of the crowns of winter cereals. The study was aimed at studying the physiological and biochemical reactions of the crowns of winter triticale, depending on the moisture level of the soil after wintering.

A change in the contents of endogenous salicylic and jasmonic acids in the roots of the host plant at the preinfectious stage of interaction with symbiotic (Rhizobium leguminosarum) and pathogenic (Agrobacterium rizogenes) bacteria belonging for to the family Rhizobiaceae was studied. It was found that the jasmonic acid content increased 1.5–2 times 5 min after inoculation with these bacterial species.

[Adequacy of combined spinal and epidural anesthesia during upper-abdominal operations].

The paper provides a comparative evaluation of the protective effects of combined spinal epidural anesthesia with artificial ventilation (AV) (n=86) versus combined general anesthesia with AV (n=53) from the surgical stress response at abdominal surgery. The surgical stress was estimated by the activities of the sympathoadrenal system, the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenocortical system, the serum complement system, and lipid peroxidation, and by the blood level of glucose. The findings suggest that the combined spinal epidural anesthesia with AV has a more valid protective activity against poor surgery-associated neurohumoral, hemodynamic, and immunological changes.
