Background: Frailty is a well-recognized clinical entity known to influence the outcomes of critically ill patients. Muscle ultrasound, particularly Quadriceps Muscle Layer Thickness (QMLT), assesses muscle mass, which is a key component determining frailty. However, no studies have assessed the association between frailty and QMLT.

Previous work revealed how a sulfate reducer (Desulfovibrio vulgaris, Dv) and a methanogen (Methanococcus maripaludis, Mm) underwent evolutionary diversification in a planktonic context, improving stability, cooperativity, and productivity within 300-1000 generations. Here, we show that mutations in just 15 Dv and 7 Mm genes within a minimal assemblage of this evolved community gave rise to co-existing ecotypes that were spatially enriched within a few days of culturing in a fluidized bed reactor.

However, inclusive and effective programs are in high demand, and there is little research on what specific aspects, context, and timeframes are most important when scaling these experiences. Using a mixed method approach, this study demonstrates that students make significant gains, in the short and long term, through in-person and remote informal programs ranging between 22-h and 320-h.

This rare tumorigenic cell subpopulation resists temozolomide, undergoes proneural-to-mesenchymal transition (PMT) to evade therapy, and drives recurrence. Through inference of transcriptional regulatory networks (TRNs) of patient-derived GSCs (PD-GSCs) at single-cell resolution, we demonstrate how the topology of transcription factor interaction networks drives distinct trajectories of cell-state transitions in PD-GSCs resistant or susceptible to cytotoxic drug treatment.

We have previously reported the transcriptomic and lipidomic profile of the first-generation, hygromycin-resistant (Hyg) version of the BCGΔBCG1419c vaccine candidate, under biofilm conditions. We recently constructed and characterized the efficacy, safety, whole genome sequence, and proteomic profile of a second-generation version of BCGΔBCG1419c, a strain lacking the BCG1419c gene and devoid of antibiotic markers. Here, we compared the antibiotic-less BCGΔBCG1419c with BCG.
