In the present study, we perform a systematic examination of the products formed by mixing and heating of tungsten boride and iridium powders at different ratios in a broad temperature range using qualitative and quantitative X-ray analysis and time-of-flight neutron diffraction (TOF-ND), in combination with scanning electron microscopy/energy-dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) performed at different accelerating voltages. The well-known and unknown ternary W-Ir-B phases were detected. The Vickers microhardness value for the new ternary WIrB boride was measured.

The peculiarities of the solid-state interaction in the HfC-Ir system have been studied within the 1000-1600 °C temperature range using a set of modern analytical techniques. It was stated that the interaction of HfC with iridium becomes noticeable at temperatures as low as 1000-1100 °C and results in the formation of HfIr-based substitutional solid solution. The homogeneity range of the HfIr phase was evaluated and refined as HfIr-HfIr.

Features of ultrasound picture of morphologically verified recurrence of ovarian cancer in 21 patients are presented, who received combined treatment including cytoreductive surgery in the form of hysterectomy with oophorectomy, resection of the greater omentum and 6 courses of chemotherapy CAP for ovarian cancer stage III (FIGO). In all patients cytoreductive surgery was optimal--without residual tumor. Recurrence of the disease was detected in 12-48 months in 80.

Aim: To assess relations between severity of chronic cardiac failure (CCF) and a course of comorbid type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM).

Material And Methods: Time course changes of cerebral natriuretic peptide (CNUP) were used as a criterion of CCF severity in 81 patients with mild and moderate CCF (NYHA functional class II-III), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) < 45% and type 2 DM. Of them, two groups of 19 patients each were compiled--with the highest and lowest CNUP levels.

Aim: To study immune mechanisms of inflammation in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).

Materials And Methods: The study of main markers of immune activation was conducted in 44 patients with DCM with stage I - IIB and NYHA functional class (FC) I - IV chronic heart failure (CHF). Among them there were 42 men (95%) and 2 women (5%) in the age from 22 to 61 years.
