Disparities in disease presentation among patients with papillary thyroid cancer: A retrospective cohort study.

Purpose: Prior research suggests that racial and ethnic minorities present with advanced papillary thyroid cancer (PTC), traditionally defined using surgical pathology. However, marginalized populations are more likely to experience delays in surgical treatment, raising concerns that surgical staging may misrepresent the extent of disease at initial presentation. This study investigates disparities in disease presentation using cytology from Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA), which is performed at first evaluation and precedes surgery, in an institutional cohort of PTC patients.

Understanding the role of asthma in acute chest syndrome: a comparative analysis of patients with and without asthma.

While asthma is a known risk factor for Acute Chest Syndrome (ACS) and may increase overall mortality in SCD patients, this study specifically focuses on the rate of inpatient mortality, hospital stay, and costs in SCD patients who develop ACS. Our study was conducted using a retrospective cohort from the National Inpatient Sample (NIS), spanning 5 years from 2016 to 2020. Patients were carefully divided into two cohorts for comparison: those admitted with ACS and a history of asthma and those with ACS without a history of asthma.

Milking behavior and performance of primiparous and multiparous Holstein, Jersey, and Holstein × Jersey crossbred cows in a batch milking system with automatic milking units.

The objective of this study was to describe and compare the dynamics of milking behavior and milking performance during the first third of lactation of primiparous (PRI) and multiparous (MLT) Holstein (HO), Jersey (JE), and Holstein × Jersey crossbred (HJ) cows on a multibreed dairy farm with a batch milking system with automatic milking units. This retrospective observational study included information from 237,182 milking events in 790, 962, and 230 HO, JE, and HJ cows, respectively, from May 2023 to April 2024. The distribution of the 3 genetic groups in the herd was HO = 39.

AAV9-mediated MYBPC3 gene therapy with optimized expression cassette enhances cardiac function and survival in MYBPC3 cardiomyopathy models.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) affects approximately 600,000 people in the United States. Loss-of-function mutations in Myosin Binding Protein C3, MYBPC3, are the most common genetic cause of HCM, with the majority of mutations resulting in haploinsufficiency. To restore cardiac MYBPC3, we use an adeno-associated virus (AAV9) vector and engineer an optimized expression cassette with a minimal promoter and cis-regulatory elements (TN-201) to enhance packaging efficiency and cardiomyocyte expression.

International REACH forgiveness intervention: a multisite randomised controlled trial.

Objectives: To determine whether a brief self-directed forgiveness workbook intervention could alter forgiveness, depression symptoms, and anxiety symptoms.

Design: A multisite randomised waitlist-controlled trial was conducted among 4598 participants. Recruitment occurred from 11 February 2020 to 30 September 2021.
