Background: Implant free medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction is an increasingly popular technique to address patellar instability. There remains sparse literature on the biomechanical differences between the most common femoral attachment fixation points including Schottle's point, superficial medial collateral ligament, and adductor magnus tendon. This study compared these reconstruction techniques as well as a novel triangle reconstruction integrating both superficial medial collateral ligament and adductor magnus tendon.

Objective:  The aim of this cadaveric study was to compare the biomechanical outcomes of three methods of stabilization for tibial tuberosity transposition to treat medial patellar luxation: a complete osteotomy with a two-pin and tension band wire (TBW) fixation (TBW group), a partial osteotomy with a two-pin fixation (2 Pin group), and a partial osteotomy with a spacer pin fixation (Spacer Pin group).

Study Design:  Thirty medium to large-sized canine cadaveric tibiae were dissected and randomly assigned to one of three groups: TBW, 2 Pin, and Spacer Pin groups. The patellar ligaments were loaded in tension until ultimate failure.

Purpose: Evaluate the ability of pre-contoured rods to induce thoracic kyphosis (TK) in human cadaveric spines and determine the effectiveness of sequential surgical adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) release procedures.

Methods: Six thoracolumbar (T3-L2) spine specimens were instrumented with pedicle screws bilaterally (T4-T12). Over correction using pre-contoured rods was performed for intact condition and Cobb angle was measured.

 Typically, metacarpal shaft fractures are treated with closed reduction percutaneous pinning, intramedullary nails, or plate fixation. Recently some surgeons have begun using intramedullary headless compression screws.  The purpose of this study was to compare intramedullary screw fixation to K-wire fixation, which is the standard of care in a transverse metacarpal midshaft fracture, using a cadaveric model.

In laymen's terms, it can be difficult to communicate how much force is needed to create a stab wound into a person's chest. Previous work has determined the force to puncture the skin, rib cartilage, or bone but without putting the results in terms that are easy to understand.The purpose of this study was to determine the force needed to puncture 3 types of fruit using 3 different types of knives, namely, a steak knife, a butcher's knife, and a lock-blade knife, to help put these previous results in perspective.
