Evaluation of antibiotic prescribing patterns for surgical prophylaxis before and after an educational campaign about penicillin allergies: a single-center, retrospective study.

After an educational campaign about reasonable use of cefazolin for surgical prophylaxis, optimal preoperative antibiotic regimen utilization increased from 52% to 67% ( = 0.011). Education to physicians on penicillin allergies may contribute to meaningful increases in use of optimal antibiotics while reducing readmissions and acute care length of stay.

Pride in social anxiety disorder.

The present study examined differences in the experience of pride between individuals with and without social anxiety disorder (SAD), and is the first to examine both the effects of context on pride and the temporal relationship between pride and anxiety in participants' daily lives. Eighty-eight participants took part in the study, half (n = 44) met diagnostic criteria for SAD and half (n = 44) did not. Both groups completed an experience sampling measurement (ESM) to assess the levels of pride and anxiety and the nature of interpersonal contexts in which these emotions were experienced every day for 21 consecutive days.

Group A Streptococcus Necrotizing Lymphadenitis: A Case Report.

Necrotizing lymphadenitis (NL) is a rare entity that can occur as a complication of bacterial cervical lymphadenitis (CL) and is characterized by unilateral or bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy. NL most commonly presents in females and most reports have been in Japan. In this case, we present a 37-year-old male with no significant past medical history who presented with an unusual presentation and clinical course of NL.

An Unusual Case of Zero Percent Coagulopathic Factor in a Patient With Polymyalgia Rheumatica.

We present a case of a 74-year-old male with a past medical history of polymyalgia rheumatica that presented as a transfer for evaluation of hematomas of the scrotum, left groin, back, and bilateral thighs. Further questioning revealed hematuria and bleeding gums for the past month. The patient complained of left thigh pain without recent fever, chills, chest pain, or shortness of breath.
