A qualitative study on the Virtual Emergency Department care experiences of equity-deserving populations.

Patients from equity-deserving populations, such as those who are from racialized communities, the 2SLGBTQI+ community, who are refugees or immigrants, and/or who have a disability, may experience a unique set of challenges accessing virtual models of care. The objective of this qualitative study was to describe the experiences of patients from equity-deserving communities and their family members who received care from a Virtual Emergency Department (ED) in Toronto, Canada. Forty-three participants (36 patients and 7 family caregivers) with different and intersecting identities who used the Virtual ED participated in the study.

Psychosocial group therapy interventions for patients with physical disabilities: A scoping review of implementation considerations.

Objective: Group therapy is an intervention that that has been well-studied in patients with medical illness and shown to optimize patients' wellbeing and mental health resource utilization. However, its implementation and effectiveness have not been adequately studied in those with physical disabilities. This review addresses current gaps by synthesizing the literature to examine implementation considerations in the use of psychosocial group therapy for anxiety and depression in individuals with physical disabilities.

Overcoming the challenges of recruiting and interviewing patients following critical illness.

Background: The strict restrictions implemented in England during the COVID-19 pandemic meant it was no longer possible to recruit or interview participants in person. However, virtual recruitment and interviews are not without their challenges, particularly when exploring sensitive topics.

Aim: To discuss how to overcome some of the challenges involved in recruiting and interviewing participants who have been critically ill with COVID-19.

Housing Satisfaction Among Older Adults Living in Low-Income Seniors' Housing.

Tenant experience surveys are a key tool for social housing landlords to gauge their success in providing high quality housing. This paper examines feedback from a tenant experience survey facilitated in a low-income housing seniors' housing community to: (1) examine their perceptions of their housing across key domains related to tenant satisfaction; and (2) identify opportunities they felt would improve their housing experience. A total of 1,114 households completed the survey.

Deception in simulation-based education: a randomised controlled trial of the effect of deliberate deception on the performance of anaesthesia trainees.

The use of deliberate deception in simulation allows for a level of realism that is not normally feasible. However, the use of deception is controversial, and carries the risk of psychological harm to learners. There are currently no quantitative data on the effect of deception on learner performance, making it difficult to judge its usefulness.
