Validation of an Instrument to Measure Family Engagement in Acute Cardiac Care.

Background: Engaging families in care leads to improved patient- and family-centreed outcomes and is recommended by cardiovascular societies. However, no validated tools are currently available to measure family engagement in acute cardiac care. We previously described the development of the FAMily Engagement (FAME) instrument.

Development of a Family Engagement Measure for the Intensive Care Unit.

Introduction: Family engagement is a goal of care delivery in the intensive care unit (ICU). However, currently, no validated instrument for the ICU is designed specifically to measure family engagement. Our objective was to develop a novel family engagement measure.

[Detection of paraprotein in plasma cell tumors].

Paraprotein is a laboratory biomarker of plasma cell tumors and other lymphoproliferative diseases. Its determination is necessary for diagnosing, monitoring and assessment of therapy effectiveness. The lecture presents the main methods of qualitative and quantative analysis of monoclonal proteins: gel electrophoresis, capillary electrophoresis, immunofixation and nephelometry features, possibilities and limitations are reviewed.

Cavitation Resistance of WC-10Co4Cr and WC-20CrC-7Ni HVAF Coatings.

Machines operating in aqueous environments may be subjected to cavitation damage during operation. This study aims to evaluate the cavitation resistance of WC-10Co4Cr and WC-20CrC-7Ni coatings under cavitation erosion conditions with additional electrochemical effects. The coatings were deposited on AISI 1040 steel substrates using a high velocity air fuel thermal spray process.

[Autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation in patients with multiple myeloma complicated by dialysis-dependent renal failure].

Aim: To assess the safety and efficacy of autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT) in multiple myeloma (MM) patients with dialysis-dependent renal failure.

Materials And Methods: During a period from May 2010 to December 2016 fourteen MM patients with dialysis-dependent renal failure aged 48 to 65 years underwent auto-HSCT. After the induction therapy complete response, very good partial response, partial response were documented in 64, 29, 7% of patients, respectively.
