Background: Anxiety disorders are commonly associated with a higher risk of fatal cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Anxiety disorders lead to dysregulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, thus weakening the key neuronal components of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) that are involved in cardiovascular functions, leading to increased cardiovascular risk.
Purpose: Impaired ANS activity, as reduced parasympathetic tone is strongly associated with an increased risk of CVD in anxiety disorders.
Purpose: Acanthamoeba and fungal infections can be recalcitrant to therapy - more so when the deeper layers of the corneas are involved. We describe the diagnosis and successful management strategies employed in a case of deep keratitis due to co-infection with Acanthamoeba and Cladosporium sp.
Observations: Once the diagnosis of co-infection with both Acanthamoeba and Cladosporium was made, treatment was initiated with a combination of PHMB, chlorhexidine, natamycin, and voriconazole; to which the response was favorable.
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a life-threatening virus that causes very serious liver-related diseases from the family of Hepadnaviridae having very rare qualities resembling retroviruses. In this paper, we analyze the effect of antiviral therapy through mathematical modeling by using Liao's homotopy analysis method (LHAM) that defines the connection between the target liver cells and the HBV. We also examine the basic nonlinear differential equation by LHAM to get a semi-analytical solution.
