Most studies have focused on estrogen action on prostacyclin and nitric oxide, while insufficient data exist concerning the effect of estrogen replacement therapy (ERT) on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and prostaglandin E(2).

Impairments were observed in interrelations and transformations of adenine nucleotides and in creatine kinase reactions. Decrease in content of total adenine nucleotides and of ATP correlated with the degree of the disease severity.
