Assessment of the decreased productivity of patients with diabetes type 2 in the Clinical Endocrinological Center Sofia, Bulgaria.

This study aims to assess the influence of type 2 diabetes on the patients' productivity and quality of life. The WHO's methodology - HLQ (Health and Labor Questionnaire) is applied. Subjects were 38 patients with type 2 diabetes, diagnosed and treated at the Clinical center on endocrinology at the MU- Specialized hospital center for active treatment- Sofia.

[The phenotypic characteristics and incidence of dyslipoproteinemias in diabetic patients].

A total of 121 inpatients with insulin and noninsulin dependent diabetes mellitus were investigated. The patients with noninsulin dependent diabetes mellitus were divided into 2 groups with relation to the presence or absence of secondary resistance to sulfonyl urea derivatives. Changes in the plasma and lipoprotein concentration of cholesterol (ChS) and triglycerides (TG) were analyzed.

[Catecholamine excretion in diabetics on insulin treatment].

In order to find out objective indices for "hidden" hypoglycemia in diabetic patients the urine excretion of the catecholamines adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine and the serum levels of cortisol and somatotrophic hormone (STH) were followed up. 45 diabetics on insulin treatment were included in the study: 32 patients with type I diabetes mellitus and 13 patients with diabetes mellitus type II with secondary resistance to sulfanilurea drugs and insulin. [Incidence, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of insulin allergy].

In the Scientific Institute for Endocrinology, Geriatrics and Gerontology, Sofia, 1723 diabetic patients were treated with insulin during the last 3 years. In 150 of them insulin allergy was supposed. The patients sensitivity toward the various insulin preparations was determined by intradermal test.
