Ensuring accountability in implementation of supplementary immunisation activities: A case study of the 2017/2018 measles vaccination campaign in Nigeria.

Introduction: Globally, there is a growing concern with accountability and health systems. This has been attributed majorly to discontent with health system performance. Within the Nigerian health system, weak accountability has been consistently singled out as a key challenge underpinning the poor performance of the immunisation programme.

Appendiceal Crohn's disease: a rare differential of right iliac fossa pain.

A 30-year-old man with a history of severe right iliac fossa pain was referred to the surgical emergency unit. His symptoms began 3 days prior as mild, non-specific abdominal pain which progressively localised to the right iliac fossa and worsened in severity. Investigations were suggestive of acute appendicitis, and therefore a laparoscopic appendicectomy was planned.

Progress Towards Measles Elimination in Nigeria: 2012 - 2016.

Introduction: Nigeria has adopted the African Regional measles elimination targets and is implementing the recommended strategies. Nigeria provides routine measles vaccination for children aged 9 months. In addition, since 2006, Nigeria has been conducting nationwide measles supplemental Immunisation activities (SIAs) or mass vaccination campaigns every 2 years, and has established measles case-based surveillance.

Evaluation of diagnostic strategies for bladder cancer using computed tomography (CT) urography, flexible cystoscopy and voided urine cytology: results for 778 patients from a hospital haematuria clinic.

Haematuria clinics with same day imaging and flexible cystoscopy are an efficient way for investigating patients with haematuria. The principal role of haematuria clinics with reference to bladder cancer is to determine which patients are 'normal' and may be discharged, and which patients are abnormal and should undergo rigid cystoscopy. It is well recognised that CT urography offers a thorough evaluation of the upper urinary tract for stones, renal masses and urothelial neoplasms but the role of CT urography for diagnosing bladder cancer is less certain.

Controlled reperfusion protects lung grafts during a transient early increase in permeability.

Background: We have previously shown that an initial 10-minute period of low-pressure reperfusion prevents the lung graft dysfunction that follows physiologic-pressure reperfusion. Possible mechanisms were investigated in this study.

Methods: Rat lungs were reperfused ex vivo using a parabiotic animal after 0-hour (groups A through C) or 24-hour (groups D through G) storage.
