Background: Diffuse hemispheric glioma, histone 3 (H3) G34-mutant, has been newly defined in the 2021 WHO classification of central nervous system tumors. Here we sought to define the prognostic roles of clinical, neuroimaging, pathological, and molecular features of these tumors.

Methods: We retrospectively assembled a cohort of 114 patients (median age 22 years) with diffuse hemispheric glioma, H3 G34-mutant, CNS WHO grade 4 and profiled the imaging, histological and molecular landscape of their tumors.

Background: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage frequently complicates endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal pituitary resections, despite the use of lumbar drains, nasoseptal flaps, or commercial dura sealants. Managing this complication often requires revision surgery and increases the risk of infection. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), an affordable autologous biomaterial derived from the patient's blood through short, angulated centrifugation, contains growth factors and leukocytes embedded in a fibrin matrix.

Background: Hemangioblastomas are highly vascularized tumors that may be associated with extensive architecture of the surrounding pathological vessels. The distinction between feeding arteries and draining veins is usually not obvious during microsurgical en-bloc tumor resection. The aim of this investigation is to provide recommendations in which hemangioblastomas intraoperative indocyanine green (ICG) videoangiography might be beneficial for safe en-bloc tumor resection.

Article Synopsis
  • Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a significant health issue, being the third leading cause of illness and death globally, with submassive PE making up 40% of this burden.
  • A study reviewed 22 patients with submassive PE who underwent mechanical thrombectomy (MT), showing a successful thrombus removal rate of 82% and no major bleeding complications.
  • Results indicated that MT led to shorter hospital stays and lower in-hospital mortality rates compared to standard anticoagulation therapy alone, despite the small sample size.

Despite major advances in molecular profiling and classification of primary brain tumors, personalized treatment remains limited for most patients. Here, we explored the feasibility of individual molecular profiling and the efficacy of biomarker-guided therapy for adult patients with primary brain cancers in the real-world setting within the molecular tumor board Freiburg, Germany. We analyzed genetic profiles, personalized treatment recommendations, and clinical outcomes of 102 patients with 21 brain tumor types.
