How can a 6-week training course shape mental healthcare professionals' understanding of mindfulness? Experiences at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital.

Background: Mindfulness-based practice has gained increasing attention in the mental health community over the last four decades, and many studies have explored the evidence of its various benefits among healthcare users and providers alike. However, there remains limited research regarding the understanding of mindfulness among mental healthcare professionals. This poses the question: how much do mental healthcare professionals really know about mindfulness, and can self-practice increase the understanding of these providers?

Aim: This descriptive or exploratory case study aimed to explore the understanding of mindfulness amongst 15 mental healthcare professionals.

[Detachment of the triceps in the treatment of elbow stiffness in extension in children].

A total triceps disinsertion technique was used in children for treating elbow stiffness in extension, subsequent either to antibiotics injections administered in the arm, or to some old unreduced dislocations met in our experience. The disinsertion allowed the recovery of a good range motion in the post-injections stiffnesses and facilitated the reduction in old unreduced dislocations. The triceps detached in this manner preserves its bio-mechanical integrity, avoiding at the same time the risk of intra-articular hypertension.

Effect of 6-methoxybenzoxazolinone on sex ratio and breeding performance in Microtus montanus.

The plant derivative, 6-mathoxybenzoxazolinone (6-MBOA), which has been demonstrated to initiate reproduction in field populations of the montane meadow vole (Microtus montanus), was administered via feeding or Silastic capsule implants to mated pairs of laboratory bred M. montanus. The animals remained paired for 120 days, and the number, size, and sex ratios of the resulting litters were recorded.

Dynamics of 6-methoxybenzoxazolinone in winter wheat : Effects of photoperiod and temperature.

6-Methoxybenzoxazolinone (6-MBOA), a compound derivable from some freshly growing plants, is known to stimulate reproduction in some mammals and birds. Winter wheat was studied under controlled laboratory conditions to determine the effects of photoperiod and temperature on derivable 6-MBOA content. Longer photoperiods decrease the amount of derivable 6-MBOA per gram of fresh material in 4-day-old wheat seedlings.
