Type of Antifungals: Does it Matter in Empirical Treatment of Otomycosis?

To evaluate the efficacy of clotrimazole, miconazole and fluconazole in empirical treatment of otomycosis in our tertiary care hospital and to appraise possible better outcome in otomycosis. Two hundred and ninety five patients who presented with clinical otomycosis at our Melmaruvathur Adiparasakthi Institute of medical sciences were incorporated in this study. Two hundred and fourteen patients who satisfied our criteria were recognized and they were randomly alienated into three groups A, B, C.

Jugular phlebectasia: clinical scenario in India.

Jugular phlebectasia is fusiform dilatation of internal jugular vein seen in childrens. It usually occurs in children but can occur at any age. It usually presents as unilateral swelling in the neck found during coughing and shouting.

Antrochoanal polyp presenting as obstructive sleep apnea.

Antrochoanal polyps (ACPS) are uncommon in children presenting to the pediatric clinic. They commonly present with unilateral nasal obstruction. ACPS presenting as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in a young child is an uncommon initial presentation.

Blending anaerobic co-digestates: synergism and economics.

Co-digestion is the process in which wastes from various sources are treated together. Therefore, more organic carbon is added to make efficient use of existing digesters. The objectives of this study were to compare potential co-digestates, determine synergistic and antagonistic co-digestion outcomes and estimate economic benefits for preliminary screening.

Early discharge after gynaecological surgery.

Objective: To determine the safety and acceptability of early discharge after major gynaecological surgery.

Design: Retrospective study of patients discharged home on the third day after surgery. Questionnaire to determine patients' attitudes.
