Through survey and analysis of pancreas cancer patient-caregiver dyads, we aimed to identify patient and caregiver characteristics that influence and determine the impact of caregiver coping strategies, self-esteem, and resilience on caregiver distress. This was a cross-sectional, observational study including pancreatic cancer patients and their caregivers. Demographics of patients and caregivers were collected.

Background: Malnutrition is a common and distressing condition among pancreatic cancer patients. Introduction: Nomophobia, a form of behavioral addiction, is uncontrolled, obsessive fear of being disconnected from the mobile phone network. Excessive use of smartphone during care, a source of errors and distractions, is among the top ten risks related to the use of technologies in healthcare. The study aims to investigate the presence of nomophobia among nurses and students of the Degree in Nursing and any differences based on gender, age group and seniority.

Developing acute care-based mental health nurses' knowledge and skills in providing recovery-orientated care: A mixed methods study.

Recovery-oriented principles have progressively been accepted as a standard of mental health practice in many countries, including Australia. A private mental health Clinic in Melbourne, Australia, is dedicated to embedding the principles of recovery-oriented practice into care by (i) providing recovery education and training for their staff and (ii) co-designing resources with consumers to promote active consumer engagement and participation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of these initiatives on staff knowledge and provision of recovery-oriented care in acute care.

Liposoluble vitamins and naturally occurring carotenoids in porphyria cutanea tarda.

The authors consider two groups of patients with overt sporadic porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT) from different continents, with the aim of evaluating the possible impairment of the liposoluble antioxidative system, given the possible synergic effect of porphyrins and iron in promoting oxidative cellular damage. Twenty-three Italian outpatients with overt sporadic PCT and 11 outpatients with PCT from Buenos Aires (Argentina) were matched with 60 patients with liver cirrhosis and 52 healthy Italian controls. Serum levels of alpha- and beta-carotene, cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin, lutein, lycopene, retinol and alpha-tocopherol were detected by a high-performance liquid chromatographic technique devised in our laboratory, which afforded an accurate and simultaneous resolution of all these compounds.
