[Use of ultraviolet irradiation of the blood after surgery in patients with tumors].

The results of ultra-violet irradiation of the blood in 207 patients after performance of thoracoabdominal operation for cancer of the esophagus and stomach were analysed. The method permits to reduce the incidence of postoperative complications, manifestations of endogenous intoxication, contributes to improvement in metabolic processes, and normalization of the state of the patients.

The possibility of using infrared spectroscopy for the evaluation of the chemical composition of S. typhi preparations is shown. The existence of a clear-cut correlation between the optical density of adsorption bands in the region between 1,665 and 1,100 cm-1 and the content of protein, polysaccharide and nucleic acids in the preparations subjected to analysis has been revealed.

[Application of infrared spectroscopy to enterobacteria research].

The influence of technology used in the preparation of spectroscopic specimens on the intensity of analytical adsorption bands in the infrared spectra of intact microbial cells has been studied with the use of mathematical planning methods. The optimal technology of specimen preparation by KBr immersion has been selected. This technology ensures the measuring of the relative optical density of the main analytical adsorption bands with an error not exceeding 3%.
