Swimmer puppy syndrome (SPS) is a rare condition that affects neonatal animals. The affected puppies are unable to stand, remain in sternal recumbency with their legs splayed laterally and ambulate with typical swimmer-like movements. This study reports the clinical findings and discusses the treatments and outcomes in four puppies of various breeds with clinical signs of SPS.

(1) Background: Fibrotic contracture of the canine infraspinatus muscle (FCIM) is considered an uncommon musculotendinous condition mainly affecting hunting dogs. After an acute onset of a painful non-weight-bearing lameness over a period of one to four weeks, a characteristic circumducted gait is developed in the affected thoracic limb. (2) Methods: Eight client-owned dogs of varying breeds, both sexes, aged 4-9 years old, and weighing 14-26 kg participated in the study.

The formation of adhesions is a common complication following traumatic injuries and surgical procedures, often resulting in pain, stiffness, and loss of function. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and safety of using a composite material comprising of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), polyethylene oxide (PEO), and calcium chloride, for preventing adhesions between muscle and bone during the healing stage, as well as its effect on the bone healing process. Ten healthy purpose-bred laboratory Beagle dogs were randomly subjected to two consecutive operations with a 6-month interval, alternating between left and right forelimbs.

Allogeneic serum and tissue-specific extracellular matrix have been shown to maintain permanently differentiated cell phenotype in culture. This is of particular importance for human tenocytes, a cell population that readily loses its function during ex vivo culture. With these in mind, herein we extracted human tenocytes using either foetal bovine serum or human serum, cultured them in the absence and presence of carrageenan and Ficoll®, the most widely used macromolecular crowding agents (to induce tissue-specific extracellular matrix deposition), and assessed cellular function, via metabolic activity, viability, proliferation and immunofluorescence for collagen related molecules, non-collagenous molecules and transmembrane molecules.

Monteggia fractures (MFs) are proximal ulnar fractures with concurrent dislocation of the radial head. This retrospective study aims to report the clinical findings and discuss the treatments and outcomes in MFs cases of 9 cases.
