Harmful cyanobacterial blooms (HCB) have become a common issue in freshwater worldwide. Biological methods for controlling HCB are relatively cost effective and environmentally friendly. The strain of ascomycete GF6 was isolated from a water sample collected from the estuarine zone of the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland.

is a difficult-to-treat gram positive organism with increasing rates of resistance to vancomycin which is commonly mediated through the gene cluster. There have been international reports of isolates that are genotypically positive for but phenotypically vancomycin-susceptible. These isolates, commonly called vancomycin-variable enterococci (VVE), can convert to phenotypic vancomycin resistance upon exposure to vancomycin.

In a rat model simulating pulmonary fibrotic changes induced by monocrotaline-induced pulmonary hypertension (MPH), we had previously explored the impact of inhaled H on lung inflammation and blood pressure. In this study, we further focused the biological effects of H on mast cells (MCs) and the parameters of the fibrotic phenotype of the local tissue microenvironment.

Astrocytes are subtypes of glial cells involved in metabolic, structural, homeostatic, and neuroprotective processes that help neurons maintain viability. Insulin-like growth factors IGF-1 and IGF-2 are known to have neuroprotective effects on neurons and glial cells through interaction with specific receptors. IGF forms a complex with IGF-binding proteins (IGFBP) in nervous tissue and is released from the complex via IGFBP proteolysis by specific proteases.

The change in formation energies with increasing number of B atoms in this series is attributed to the multiplicity of boron sites and is explained by density of states calculations. The calculated values of Li, Na and B are correlated with the coordination and distortion of polyhedra to elucidate the influence of local and more distant environments.
