Endothelial cells (ECs), which form the inner surface of the blood vessels, contact the blood, withstand mechanical pressure, and demonstrate heterogeneous reactions to exogenous and endogenous stimuli. ECs have unique properties in accordance with their niches and play an important role in regulating vascular homeostasis. Endothelial cells may undergo a dynamic phenotypic switch in terms of its heterogeneity, which may lead to endothelial dysfunction and a number of associated pathologies.

Background: This phase III, controlled, patient-blinded, multicentre study in two parallel, equal-sized treatment groups compared the efficacy and safety of TISSEEL Lyo, fibrin sealant versus Manual Compression (MC) with surgical gauze pads for use as a haemostatic agent in patients who underwent vascular surgery in Russia.

Methods: Adult patients, both genders, who received peripheral vascular expanded polytetrafluoroethylene conduits and had suture line bleeding after surgical haemostasis were enrolled. Patients were randomized to be treated with TISSEEL Lyo or MC.

Background: In the modern era of endovascular surgery percutaneous interventions are being widely used to treat a number of vascular disorders including arteriovenous fistulas (AVF). Still, patients with hostile anatomy or complicated cases such as large post-traumatic AVFs may be successfully treated using conventional vascular surgery.

Case Summary: This paper presents state-of-the-art treatment options in subjects with post-traumatic AVFs and a case-report of a successful open surgical approach in a patient with a 25 year old history of a post-traumatic AVF between the common femoral artery and common femoral vein.

Background: Bradyarrhythmias are typically treated with permanent pacemakers (PM). The elimination of bradyarrhythmia by PM implantation improves the patient's quality of life and prognosis, but it can also result in a number of sequalae. It is still unclear how PM implantation affects the hemostasis system's parameters and how such parameters relate to different consequences after PM placement.

Background: This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of Actovegin for the treatment of patients with Fontaine stage IIB peripheral arterial disease (PAD).

Methods: The study included 366 patients with Fontaine stage IIB PAD from 19 centers (Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan). Placebo or Actovegin (1200 mg daily [QD]) were administered intravenously for two weeks, followed by a 10-week course of oral administration (placebo or Actovegin 1200 mg QD).
