The cyclic GMP-AMP synthase-stimulator of the interferon gene (cGAS-STING) signaling pathway is considered an essential pattern recognition and effector pathway in the natural immune system and is mainly responsible for recognizing DNA molecules present in the cytoplasm and activating downstream signaling pathways to generate type I interferons (IFN-I) and other inflammatory factors. STING, a crucial junction protein in the innate immune system, exerts an essential role in host resistance to external pathogen invasion. The DNA introduced by pathogens or tumors is recognized by the cytoplasmic nucleic acid receptor cGAS, and a second messenger, cGAMP, is generated using intracellular guanosine triphosphate (GTP) and adenosine triphosphate (ATP).

Introduction Symptomatic mammary hypertrophy (SMH) refers to excessive breast weight exceeding 3% of total body weight, impacting not only the breast but also the nipples and areola. Breast reduction surgery (BRS) has a complication that adversely affects the nipple-areolar complex (NAC) sensation. The purpose of this study was to estimate the degree to which the specialized infrared camera-computer system (SPY) may predict postoperative sensation of the NAC following BRS.

Purpose: The time from article submission to publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals is variable and can be prolonged, which slows the dissemination of research and can influence the academic progress of authors. This study evaluated the publication times for articles in radiology journals, in particular the relationship between turnaround times and journal impact factors (IFs).

Methods: Bibliometric data was obtained from Journal Citation Reports to conduct a comparative analysis of radiology journals against those in other disciplines of clinical medicine using highest IF, median IF, cited half-life, immediacy index, and number of journals.

Tidal marshes are threatened coastal ecosystems known for their capacity to store large amounts of carbon in their water-logged soils. Accurate quantification and mapping of global tidal marshes soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks is of considerable value to conservation efforts. Here, we used training data from 3710 unique locations, landscape-level environmental drivers and a global tidal marsh extent map to produce a global, spatially explicit map of SOC storage in tidal marshes at 30 m resolution.

Dysregulations of epithelial-immune interactions frequently culminate in chronic inflammatory diseases of the skin, lungs, kidneys, and gastrointestinal tract. Yet, the intraepithelial processes which initiate and perpetuate inflammation in these organs are poorly understood. Here, by utilizing redox lipidomics we identified ferroptosis-associated peroxidation of polyunsaturated phosphatidylethanolamines in the epithelia of patients with asthma, cystic fibrosis, psoriasis and renal failure.
