Aims: The objective of this work is to evaluate the epidemiological profile of colorectal cancers, histologically proven over a 5-year period (2012-2016) in the Tlemcen region.

Methods: A retrospective study of 581 cases of colorectal cancer collected at the epidemiology department of the University Hospital Center (UHC) of Tlemcen between January 2012 and December 2016 was performed. Epidemiological data were processed using SPSS version 25 and Microsoft Excel 2010.

High-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) is recognized as the etiologic agent responsible for cervical cancer, ranking as the second most prevalent cancer among women in Algeria with an incidence rate of 10.4 per 100,000. The primary aim of this study was to conduct a preliminary prospective investigation into the detection of HR-HPV infections in Tlemcen, Algeria, where screening is exclusively based on cytology.

Objectives: We aimed to characterize HPV infections and cervical lesions in Western Algeria.

Patients And Methods: A total of 96 cervical samples obtained from women at risk of HPV infection (HIV-1-infected or presenting with a gynecological disease) were analyzed to characterize this infection and search for cytological abnormalities.

Results: A total of 60% of women at risk had an HPV infection.
