Background/aim: Adult granulosa cell tumor (aGCT) is a rare and challenging ovarian tumor due to its unpredictable recurrence and its associated increased risk of breast and endometrial cancer. Identifying and describing molecular alterations in tumors has become common with the advent of high-throughput sequencing. However, DNA sequencing in rare tumors, such as aGCT, often lacks statistical power due to the limited number of cases in each study, thereby clinical implications of DNA alterations are difficult to interpretate.

Introduction: Sebaceous gland carcinoma (SGC) of the eyelid is an aggressive tumour with the ability to metastasise and an increased morbidity. Controversies regarding the epidemiology of this malignant eyelid tumour is widespread in the scientific literature. Western reports repeatedly describes eyelid SGC as a rare occurring tumour in general, accounting for 1%-3% of all eyelid tumours, however studies from Asia have uncovered a higher frequency of eyelid SGC including 54% of all eyelid tumours in Japan, and 43%-56% in India.

However, whether these disturbances contribute to development of the disease or are a result of the disease is unclear. In pairs of human twins discordant for IBD, the healthy twin has a higher risk of developing IBD and a gut microbiota that is more similar to that of IBD patients as compared with healthy individuals.
