A complete morphological characterization of all life stages of the phorid fly Megaselia scalaris.

Megaselia scalaris, commonly known as the scuttle fly, is a cosmopolitan species in the family Phoridae. It is an easily cultured fly species that is an emerging model organism in the fields of genetics and developmental biology. Its affinity for carrion and its predictable life cycle makes it useful in the field of forensic science for estimating the post-mortem interval (PMI) of human remains.

The introduction of the trauma triage clinic at a district general hospital: safety and efficacy during the first year of implementation.

Introduction: Previously published work has shown that there are no missed injuries following the introduction of a trauma triage clinic (TTC). This study aimed to assess both the safety and efficacy of the TTC model in a district general hospital in the United Kingdom. We aimed to assess the rate of missed 'high-risk' injuries, including posterior shoulder dislocations, talar injuries, Lisfranc injuries and complex carpal instability.

Introduction: Postpartum hemorrhage remains the leading cause of maternal death in France. Parturients in western French Guiana have specific sociodemographic features and a high rate of pathological pregnancies. The objective of this study was to determine the incidence of immediate postpartum hemorrhage (IPPH) in western French Guiana, and to describe the etiologies and risk factors.

The Development, Application and Analysis of an Enhanced Recovery Programme for Major Oesophagogastric Resection.

Background: Enhanced recovery programmes improve outcomes in surgery, but their implementation after upper gastrointestinal resection has been limited. The aim of this study was to compare short-term outcomes for patients undergoing oesophagogastric surgery in an enhanced recovery programme (EROS).

Methods: EROS was developed after a multidisciplinary meeting by multiple rounds of revision.

The folate-coupled enzyme MTHFD2 is a nuclear protein and promotes cell proliferation.

Folate metabolism is central to cell proliferation and a target of commonly used cancer chemotherapeutics. In particular, the mitochondrial folate-coupled metabolism is thought to be important for proliferating cancer cells. The enzyme MTHFD2 in this pathway is highly expressed in human tumors and broadly required for survival of cancer cells.
