Patients with pathogenic variants in the gene suffer from severe and recurrent rhabdomyolysis episodes precipitated by fasting. Autophagy functioning was analyzed , in primary skeletal myoblasts from TANGO2 patients, in basal and fasting conditions, and mutations were associated with reduced LC3-II levels upon starvation. In zebrafish larvae, inhibition induced locomotor defects which were exacerbated by exposure to atorvastatin, a compound known to cause rhabdomyolysis.

Population dynamics depend on trophic interactions that are affected by climate change. The rise in sea temperature is associated with the disappearance of sea ice in the Arctic. In the Arctic part of the Barents Sea, Atlantic cod, capelin and polar cod are three fish populations that interact and are confronted with climate-induced sea ice reductions.

Acute diarrhea is a common condition in dogs. Most cases are mild and self-limiting and according to guidelines, antimicrobial treatment is only indicated in dogs with severe systemic disease. However, antimicrobials are still prescribed in 50-65 % of mild cases.

Background: The lysosomal autophagic pathway plays a fundamental role in cellular and tissue homeostasis, and its deregulation is linked to human pathologies including kidney diseases. Autophagy can randomly degrade cytoplasmic components in a nonselective manner commonly referred to as bulk autophagy. In contrast, selective forms of autophagy specifically target cytoplasmic structures such as organelles and protein aggregates, thereby being important for cellular quality control and organelle homeostasis.

The production of ϒ(2S) and ϒ(3S) mesons in lead-lead (Pb-Pb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions is studied in their dimuon decay channel using the CMS detector at the LHC. The ϒ(3S) meson is observed for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions, with a significance above 5 standard deviations. The ratios of yields measured in Pb-Pb and pp collisions are reported for both the ϒ(2S) and ϒ(3S) mesons, as functions of transverse momentum and Pb-Pb collision centrality.
