This project is an observational, descriptive study evaluating frequencies of rotavirus disease in hospitalized children aged less than 5 years old between 2015 and 2021 in the Pediatric Hospital of Brasov, Central Romania. The study compares socio-demographic (age, sex, place of living and ethnicity), clinical, and treatment aspects between community-acquired rotavirus gastroenteritis (CARG) and hospital-acquired rotavirus gastroenteritis (HARG). During that period, 1913 hospitalized children had a rapid positive immunichromatographic rotavirus test from stool specimens.

The refractive index (RI) profile change induced by arc discharge was measured using the quantitative phase microscopy for the first time to our knowledge. The peptide hormone relaxin is important for the renal and systemic hemodynamic adaptations to pregnancy, and has been shown to increase arterial compliance and outward hypertrophic remodeling. Therefore, we investigated the possibility that relaxin acts on its receptor, RXFP1, to mediate uterine artery compliance in late pregnancy and increase uterine blood flow velocity in rats.

Simultaneous optical phase and retardation measurement of a birefringent specimen is demonstrated independently of a priori knowledge of the optic axis orientation. The two-dimensional retardation distribution in both magnitude and angle of the fast axis orientation is uniquely determined from transverse phase images recorded with a bright field transmission microscope using light polarized at a minimum of three different polarization orientations. This approach opens a new possibility for stain-free phase and orientation-independent retardation characterization of samples using only one polarizer without needing other additional optical elements traditionally used in polarimetric measurements.
