A category of symptoms that became characteristic early in the first wave of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic was chemosensory dysfunctions (alterations of smell and taste). Such symptoms substantially affect food and eating-cornerstones for both nutrition-related health outcomes and for quality of life. Based on this, this scoping review aimed to map out existing scientific literature on food-related experiences and related behavioral responses among people affected by chemosensory dysfunctions following COVID-19.

The National Surgical Quality Improvement Project (NSQIP) dataset was used to identify perioperative variables associated with the length of stay (LOS) and early discharge among cancer patients undergoing colectomy. Patients who underwent non-emergent right colectomy for colon cancer from 2012 to 2019 were identified from the NSQIP and colectomy-targeted databases. Postoperative LOS was analyzed based on postoperative day (POD) of discharge, with patients grouped into Early Discharge (POD 0-2), Standard Discharge (POD 3-5), or Late Discharge (POD ≥ 6) cohorts.

The spectra of diatomic PdSi have been investigated for the first time, using the technique of resonant two-photon ionization spectroscopy. A number of vibronic transitions have been observed in the 20,400-22,000 cm(-1) range. It is difficult to group the bands into band systems, although one likely band system has been identified.

In anaplastic large-cell lymphomas, chromosomal translocations involving the kinase domain of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), generally fused to the 5' part of the nucleophosmin gene, produce highly oncogenic ALK fusion proteins that deregulate cell cycle, apoptosis, and differentiation in these cells. Other fusion oncoproteins involving ALK, such as echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 4-ALK, were recently found in patients with non-small-cell lung, breast, and colorectal cancers. Recent research has focused on the development of inhibitors for targeted therapy of these ALK-positive tumors.
