This study evaluated the survival probabilities of two lithia-based glass-ceramics after final crystallization in a microwave furnace using conventional crystallization as a reference. Disc-shaped samples of a lithium silicate (LS, Celtra Duo) and a lithium disilicate (LD, e.max CAD) were prepared and divided into two groups according to the crystallization method (n = 30): microwave (M) or conventional furnaces (C).

Background: The International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) stands out for its utility and widespread use to measure sexual function in men. However, it lacks consistency in its internal latent structure across studies, has not been evaluated for measurement invariance, and has not undergone psychometric validation for its 15-item form in Spanish among South American countries.

Aim: To examine the IIEF's psychometric evidence (ie, structural/criterion validity and reliability) in a sample of adult men and determine its measurement invariance across relationship status (single vs in a relationship) and age generations (generations Z, Y/millennials, and X).

This study investigated the optimal combination of compatibilizers and stabilizers to enhance the value of marine environment plastic (MEP). The composition of the plastics was analysed, and a simulated recycled plastic blend (sMEP) was prepared based on a simplified composition of actual MEP. Different concentrations of three commercial compatibilizers (C1, C2 and C3) were tested to improve tensile strength.

Article Synopsis
  • Warthin's tumor is a common benign tumor in the parotid gland, often appearing in multiple places or in both glands at the same time in 20% - 30% of cases.
  • This case report highlights a rare instance of Warthin's tumor that occurred simultaneously in both parotid glands and outside the parotid area.
  • The low occurrence of such cases may be underestimated, and raising awareness could help doctors improve diagnosis and treatment for patients.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is a highly damaging pathogen for pig farming, causing significant economic losses. Despite the availability of vaccines based on different technologies, the virus steadily infects the world's pig population. In this context, virus-like particles (VLPs) constitute appealing alternatives for vaccine development as they lack the viral genome but present intact external surfaces.
