Background: Objective and sensitive measures of everyday function are needed for accurate clinical diagnosis and evaluation of outcomes in clinical trials for dementia. However, most objective everyday function measures are difficult to administer and have not been validated against biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease (AD) neuropathology. This study evaluated the neuroimaging correlates of a highly sensitive, ecologically valid, and easily implementable performance-based test of function called the Virtual Kitchen Challenge (VKC).

Materials And Methods: A systematic review conducted in March-May 2022 with an updated search in February 2024 retrieved data from MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycInfo, and EMBASE. Inclusion criteria included a study population with a mean age ≥45 years and with physical disability, and original, peer-reviewed literature.
Freshwater environments are biodiversity hotspots under multiple pressures, including pesticide exposure. S-metolachlor, a widely used herbicide, can induce genotoxic, cytotoxic and physiological effects in captive fish, but we have a limited understanding of the effects of exposure to S-metolachlor in free-living vertebrates. We carried out an original field experiment using integrative approaches across biological levels and temporal scales.

African research capacity is challenged by insufficient infrastructure to solicit and manage grants from local and international funding agencies. The manuscript provides an overview and discusses lessons learned about the pioneering role of the Mozambique Institute for Health Education and Research (MIHER) as the first research support center (RSC) in supporting the management of research grants in Mozambique, emphasizing its impact on research capacity development. Using mixed methods, data were comprehensively collected to identify MIHER's primary achievements from 2010 to 2023.
