Purpose: In this study, we aimed to establish a method for predicting the probability of each acute radiation dermatitis (ARD) grade during the head and neck Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) radiotherapy planning phase based on Bayesian probability.
Methods: The skin dose volume >50 Gy (V), calculated using the treatment planning system, was used as a factor related to skin toxicity. The empirical distribution of each ARD grade relative to V was obtained from the ARD grades of 119 patients (55, 50, and 14 patients with G1, G2, and G3, respectively) determined by head and neck cancer specialists.
Background & Aims: The current standard treatment modality for advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), namely platinum-based (PB) concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT), is associated with frequent severe mucositis which is responsible for the multiple acute and late adverse events. So far, effective preventive methods for this CRT-induced mucositis are not identified. In the current study, we examined the prophylactic effects of beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB), arginine (Arg), and glutamine (Gln) (HMB/Arg/Gln) mixture.

Methods: Patients with FIGO stage IB2-IVA uterine cervical cancer pretreatment width of which was ≥5 cm measured by magnetic resonance imaging were eligible for this clinical trial. The protocol therapy included 30-30.
Esophageal bypass surgery is an effective treatment strategy for esophageal cancer with esophago-tracheobronchial fistula. We herein report an esophageal cancer patient with esophago-pulmonary fistula who achieved a long-term survival but died suddenly because of cardiac tamponade. A 70-year-old male patient with esophago-pulmonary fistula due to esophageal tumor invasion underwent definitive chemoradiotherapy as the initial treatment.

Methods: Eligible patients with unresectable stage III NSCLC were randomised to either the SP arm (S-1 and cisplatin) or VP arm (vinorelbine and cisplatin), with early concurrent thoracic radiotherapy of 60 Gy, comprising 2 Gy per daily fraction.
