Objectives: (1) To determine stiffness, load at failure, and mode of failure of a novel fixation method with a tension modified-hemicerclage (MH) for tibial tuberosity transposition, and (2) to compare the biomechanical properties of this novel fixation technique to 2 pins (2Pins) and 2 pins and tension band wire fixation (2Pins + TBW).
Study Design: Thirty cadaveric stifles from dogs between 5.2 and 13.
In eight healthy participants with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) exercise-related dynamic cardiac remodeling was analyzed by performing two-dimensional echocardiography, including deformation analysis of the left-ventricular (LV) global longitudinal strain (LV-GLS), and the deformation pattern of the left atrium (LA) and right ventricle (RV) at rest and post-peak performance on a bicycle. The feasibility echocardiographic speckle-tracking analysis was performed on eight asymptomatic participants with T1D ( = 8, male = 5, age: 23-65 years). The obtained echocardiographic data were compared for various echocardiographic parameters at rest and post exercise.

An activated ketene enolate, generated from an acid chloride, is allowed to react with an electrophilic fluorine source (NFSi). Quenching the reaction with a nucleophilic natural product produces biologically relevant alpha-fluorinated carbonyl derivatives of select chemotherapeutics, antibiotics, and other pharmaceuticals.

Methods: PubMed literature searches were carried out to identify recent key publications in the areas of pregnancy and opioid dependence, neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) prevention and treatment, multiple substance abuse and psychiatric comorbidity.
Results: Pregnant women dependent on opioids require careful treatment to minimize harm to the fetus and neonate and improve maternal health.
Enantioselective organocatalytic Michael addition of aldehydes to nitroethylene catalyzed by (S)-diphenylprolinol silyl ether provides beta-substituted-delta-nitroalcohols in nearly optically pure form (96-99% ee). The Michael adducts bear a single substituent adjacent to the carbonyl and can be efficiently converted to protected gamma2-amino acids, which are essential for the systematic conformational studies of gamma-peptide foldamers.
