Effectiveness for remission maintenance rate and safety of different rituximab regimens for treating anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis in Japan: a J-CANVAS study.

Rituximab (RTX) has been reported to effectively maintain remission in anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis (AAV). In this multicenter study involving 57 patients who achieved remission after 24 weeks, we evaluated the effectiveness of RTX in maintaining remission in patients with AAV. Patients were divided into three groups based on RTX administration: continuous, induction phase-only, and maintenance phase-only groups.

Glucocorticoid tapering pace in microscopic polyangiitis and granulomatosis with polyangiitis in Japanese real-world practice: A propensity score-matched retrospective cohort study from the J-CANVAS registry.

Objective: To assess the prevalence and outcomes among regimens of glucocorticoid tapering for microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) and granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) in real-world practice.

Methods: We retrospectively examined the Japan Collaborative Registry of ANCA-associated Vasculitis (J-CANVAS) registry, and evaluated the prevalence of glucocorticoid tapering regimens in the PEXIVAS trial. In patients with newly diagnosed MPA and GPA, we compared outcomes among standard and reduced pace regimens.

Separate and combined blockades of α- and β-adrenergic receptors in forearm sweating induced by adrenergic agents and exercise in the heat in young adults.

The assessment of adrenergic modulation of sweating as assessed via pharmacologic administration of α- and β-adrenergic receptor blockers during exercise has yielded mixed findings. However, the underlying mechanisms for this disparity remains unresolved. We investigated the effects of separate and combined blockade of α- and β-adrenergic receptors on forearm sweating induced by a 30-min moderate-intensity exercise bout (n=17, protocol 1) and the administration of adrenergic agonists epinephrine and norepinephrine (n=16, protocol 2) in the heat.

[Double Valves Repair for Mitral and Tricuspid Regurgitation due to Barlow's Disease:Report of a Case].

A 75-year-old man with mitral regurgitation (MR) and tricuspid regurgitation (TR) caused by Barlow 's disease was referred to our hospital. He had a history of persistent atrial fibrillation. Echocardiography showed severe MR with bi-leaflet billowing and functional TR.

Patellar tendon rupture is a severe complication following total knee arthroplasty. We encountered a case of rheumatoid arthritis with an incomplete rupture of the patellar tendon post-total knee arthroplasty. An 84-year-old woman was diagnosed with an incomplete rupture of the right patellar tendon 3 months post-total knee arthroplasty of her right knee.
