[Clinical factors and response to therapy with disease-modifying drugs for multiple sclerosis: the experience of the Tomsk region].

Objective: To investigate a disease-modifying drugs (DMD) response in multiple sclerosis (MS) in the Tomsk region population and detect clinical factors associated with the treatment response.

Material And Methods: A 5-year prospective clinical study included 363 MS patients of the Tomsk region taking DMDs of the «first-line» and «second-line treatments». The response to DMDs therapy and the impact of MS clinical characteristics on response to treatment were assessed.

[BDNF gene RS6265 polymorphism in patients with multiple sclerosis of Tomsk region].

Objective: To study the effect of the RS6265 polymorphism of gene on the risk of development, main clinical characteristics and DMT response in MS patients in Tomsk region.

Material And Methods: The study group included 321 patients, the control group consisted of 266 healthy volunteers. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) was isolated from venous blood using the standard phenol-chloroform method.

Valuation of the EQ-5D-3L in Russia.

Purpose: The most widely used generic questionnaire to estimate the quality of life for yielding quality-adjusted life years in economic evaluations is EQ-5D. Country-specific population value sets are required to use EQ-5D in economic evaluations. The aim of this study was to establish an EQ-5D-3L value set for Russia.

[Searching for additional markers of impaired iron metabolism in diabetes mellitus].

Background: It is known that metabolic disorders in diabetes mellitus have a regulating effect on ferrokinetics, and therefore diabetes mellitus is often accompanied by various disorders of iron metabolism, both anemia and secondary iron overload. The main problem is timely and accurate differential diagnosis between anemia of chronic diseases and iron deficiency anemia. It is necessary to establish reliable laboratory markers of anemia of chronic diseases in order to solve this problem, as well as to understand what metabolic disorders can lead to the occurrence and aggravate the course of this type of anemia.

The gene therapy is totally new approach to treatment of patient. It has significant therapeutic potential for wide range of diseases, including those caused by genetic disorders.
