The currently defined Global Stratotype Section and Point for the Campanian/Maastrichtian boundary at Tercis (France) lacks any belemnite record. However, the detailed correlation of Tercis with the Kronsmoor section in northern Germany has enabled recognising this boundary in terms of belemnite stratigraphy close to the first appearance datum (FAD) of Schulz, 1979. Originally, the FAD of the genus Nowak, 1913 (e.

Article Synopsis
  • Perennial ryegrass is impacted by cadmium (Cd) and nickel (Ni) pollution, causing limitations in photosynthesis.
  • A study analyzed photosynthetic efficiency in two ryegrass cultivars, 'Niga' and 'Nira', under heavy metal stress, focusing on chlorophyll fluorescence and reflectance.
  • Results showed decreased activity in both PSII and PSI, suggesting that certain photosynthetic efficiency metrics can help identify early signs of heavy metal stress on plant growth.

The concentrations of the bioactive compounds in potato tubers are determined by both genetic potential and environmental factors. The purpose of the experiment was to determine the influence of organic and integrated production on the expression of the genetic potential with respect to the antioxidant properties of potato tubers and to evaluate its stability under different environmental conditions. This phenotyping was performed on seven new breeding lines (tetraploid clones) and three modern cultivars: Jelly, Satina and Tajfun.

Article Synopsis
  • Sweet potato cultivars react differently to higher ozone levels, impacting their suitability for farming.
  • The first cultivar prioritized leaf growth over tuber development, reducing starch content in leaves but maintaining carotenoid levels.
  • The second cultivar kept tuber-to-plant ratio stable under ozone, but had lower tuber yield and starch content, which affects industrial use, though this may benefit chip production.

The Positron-Emitting Tracer Imaging System (PETIS) is introduced for monitoring the distribution of (11)C-labelled photoassimilates in Sorghum. The obtained two-dimensional image data were quantitatively analysed using a transfer function analysis approach. While one half of a Sorghum root in a split root system was treated with either 0, 100, or 500 mM NaCl dissolved in the nutrient solution, tracer images of the root halves and the lower stem section were recorded using PETIS.
