The impact of the cost-of-living crisis on population health in the UK: rapid evidence review.

Background: In the UK, unique and unforeseen factors, including COVID-19, Brexit, and Ukraine-Russia war, have resulted in an unprecedented cost of living crisis, creating a second health emergency. We present, one of the first rapid reviews with the aim of examining the impact of this current crisis, at a population level. We reviewed published literature, as well as grey literature, examining a broad range of physical and mental impacts on health in the short, mid, and long term, identifying those most at risk, impacts on system partners, including emergency services and the third sector, as well as mitigation strategies.

A process evaluation of the NHS Health Check care pathway in a primary care setting.

Background: More evidence is needed concerning the implementation of the NHS Health Check programme in order to identify areas for improvement. The aim of the study was to investigate the way in which the Gloucestershire NHS Health Check programme care pathway was followed and interpreted compared with national programme indicators.

Methods: A cross sectional review of Gloucestershire's Health Checks was undertaken to assess programme performance via a primary care audit of key indicators within a cohort of 83 GP practices and an eligible population of 210 513.

Patients' perceptions of a NHS Health Check in the primary care setting.

Background: The NHS Health Checks is a cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk assessment and management programme for individuals in England aged between 40 and 74 with the aim of identifying previously unassessed individuals that are at high risk of CVD. Little research to date has explored patient perceptions and opinions of Health Checks.

Objective: This paper aims to investigate the perceptions and opinions of patients who had attended a Health Check appointment within a cohort of 83 General Practices in Gloucestershire.
