Emergency department (ED) crowding is a global public health issue that has been repeatedly associated with increased mortality. Predicting future service demand would enable preventative measures aiming to eliminate crowding along with its detrimental effects. Recent findings in our ED indicate that occupancy ratios exceeding 90% are associated with increased 10-day mortality.

A few fields, such as radiotherapy and neurophysiology already utilize such methods in clinical practice, yet a number of disciplines could benefit from similar technologies, especially when imaging data is already available. The major problem in patient-specific simulation is the data conversion to simulation-compatible form i.

Here, we aimed to evaluate the most essential molecular factors, such as IDH (isocitrate dehydrogenase) mutation in gliomas classification with patient-derived glioma organoids (PGOs) using differential mobility spectrometry (DMS).
Methods: we prospectively recruited 12 glioma patients, 6 IDH-mutated and 6 IDH wild-type tumors, from which PGOs were generated ex-vivo.
Phospholipids are the main building components of cell membranes and are also used for cell signaling and as energy storages. Cancer cells alter their lipid metabolism, which ultimately leads to an increase in phospholipids in cancer tissue. Surgical energy instruments use electrical or vibrational energy to heat tissues, which causes intra- and extracellular water to expand rapidly and degrade cell structures, bursting the cells, which causes the formation of a tissue aerosol or smoke depending on the amount of energy used.

The pre-interventional assessment in patients undergoing invasive treatment for peripheral arterial disease is increasingly often carried out with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and we therefore sought to investigate the predictive potential of MRI-derived psoas muscle area in this cohort.
Methods: A total of 899 patients with available sufficient quality pre-interventional MRI conducted within 6 months prior to treatment undergoing open, endovascular, or hybrid revascularization procedures for claudication and/or limb-threatening ischemia at Tampere University hospital between 2010 and 2020 were retrospectively studied in this single-center cohort study.
