Copper-based sulfides are attractive candidates for NIR I and II responsive photothermal therapy but often suffer from high hydrophobicity, suboptimal photothermal conversion, and poor biostability and biocompatibility. In the present work, a rapid, one-pot synthesis method was developed to obtain Au-doped CuS (ACSH NDs) dual plasmonic nanodots. ACSH NDs exhibit excellent peroxidase-like catalytic activity for pH-responsive OH radical generation along with efficient glutathione depletion under tumor microenvironment mimicking conditions.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the use of bioabsorbable materials, specifically polylactic acid (PLA) and hydroxyapatite (HAP), for maxillofacial reconstruction to avoid issues with traditional metallic implants.
  • It involves creating and testing several PLA-based nanocomposites with properties that improve strength and bioactivity, using techniques like ball milling and sol-gel methods for nanoparticle preparation.
  • Results show that the developed composites, PEAT and PHAT, exhibit favorable mechanical properties and cell viability, suggesting they are promising candidates for future use in maxillofacial implants.

In this study, we have developed agar, a seaweed derived polysaccharide based green adsorbent for the removal of heavy metal ions (Pb, Cu, Cr and Cd) from multimetal solution. Porous cryogels of agar grafted with 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) were prepared by freeze-drying. The adsorption capacity and selectivity of the optimized APTES-agar cryogel for heavy metal ions (Cu, Cr, Pb, Cd) were investigated in multimetal solutions.

Introduced by the Hatch-Waxman Amendments of 1984, 505(b)(2) applications permit the US Food and Drug Administration to rely, for approval of a new drug application, on information from studies not conducted by or for the applicant and for which the applicant has not obtained a right of reference. This pathway is designed to circumvent the unnecessary duplication of studies already conducted on a previously approved drug. It can lead to a considerably more efficient and expedited route to approval compared to a traditional development path.

Objective: The traditional treatment of sellar Rathke cleft cysts (RCCs) generally involves transsellar drainage; however, suprasellar RCCs present unique challenges to appropriate management and technical complexity. Reports on overall outcomes for the endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) for this pathology are limited. The EEA for RCCs allows three surgical techniques: marsupialization, fenestration, and fenestration with cyst wall resection.
