The course of ischemic heart disease was studied in 167 patients who had survived myocardial infarction (MI). The chief factors determining the course of the disease and prognosis after MI are the degree and number of affected coronary arteries, MI localization, functional state of myocardium and early onset of postinfarction stenocardia.

Increase of the left ventricle mass (LVM) in patients with HD after infarction was established to be associated with rise of myocardial contractility. Fall of the LVM occurs at the account of thinning of ventricular wall without changes in volumic parameters of the left ventricle.
