Background: Extensor mechanism disruption following total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a rare, yet serious complication. While previous patellar abnormalities are a theoretical risk factor for this complication, there is a scarcity of literature describing the impact of prior extensor mechanism dysfunction (EMD) on this and other complications following TKA. In this study, we describe our institutional experience with complications following TKA after EMD.

The emergence of environmental endocrine disruptor chlorobenzene (CB) in surface water and its potential environmental impacts have attracted serious global attention. It is still very difficult to achieve effective degradation of it by catalytic oxidation process under mild conditions. Here, an optimized method for degrading CB in aqueous solution using laccase and surfactant-assisted laccase-mediator (SALM) system was investigated.

(Oleaceae), endemic to the Korean Peninsula and the sole member of its genus and species, possesses high scarcity value, escalating its importance under the Nagoya Protocol. Despite its significance, their metabolites and activities of flowers remain unexplored. This study employs an integrated metabolomic approach utilizing NMR, LC/MS, GC/MS, and FTIR techniques to comprehensively analyze the metabolite profile of flowers.

The prevalence of metabolic syndrome is increasing globally due to behavioral and environmental changes. There are many therapeutic agents available for the treatment of chronic metabolic diseases, such as obesity and diabetes, but the data on their efficacy and safety are lacking. Through a pilot study by our group, rhizomes used as a spice and functional food were selected as an anti-obesity candidate.
