Effect of Low-dose Administration of Carperitide for Acute Heart Failure: the LASCAR-AHF trial.

Background: The effects of low-dose carperitide on long-term clinical outcomes of patients with acute heart failure (AHF) have not yet been fully elucidated. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of low-dose intravenous carperitide on the long-term clinical outcomes of patients with AHF.

Methods: In this multicentre, open-label, randomised controlled trial, 247 patients with AHF received low-dose carperitide intravenously with standard treatment or a matching standard treatment for 72 h from November 2014 to March 2021 across nine sites in Japan.

Mediastinal pancreatic pseudocysts are rare complications of pancreatitis associated with alcohol consumption. Here, we report a case of mediastinal pancreatic pseudocyst. A 61-year-old Japanese woman presented to our hospital with epigastric pain and dyspnea.

Twenty-year follow-up of promising clinical studies reported in highly circulated newspapers: a meta-epidemiological study.

Objectives: Researchers have identified cases in which newspaper stories have exaggerated the results of medical studies reported in original articles. Moreover, the exaggeration sometimes begins with journal articles. We examined what proportion of the studies quoted in newspaper stories were confirmed.

Vogesella urethralis-induced aspiration pneumonia and bacteremia in an elderly man: a first case report and literature review.

Background: Vogesella species are common aquatic Gram-negative rods that were first reported in 1997. Vogesella urethralis bacterium was first isolated from human urine in 2020. Only two cases of disease caused by Vogesella species have been reported with no case of Vogesella urethralis-caused disease being reported as yet.

Immunotactoid Glomerulopathy with Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Infection: A Novel Association.

A 70-year-old woman underwent a renal biopsy due to nephrotic syndrome. She had suffered from nontuberculous mycobacterial infection (NTM) for 14 years. The patient was diagnosed as having membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN) type 3 and immunoglobulin (Ig)-associated MPGN based upon LM/erythromycin and IF findings, respectively.
