[The influence of economic activities on the fauna of bloodsucking midges in the genus Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) in the environs of Saint-Petersburg].

The dependence of the species composition and abundance of biting midges upon a degree of the anthropogenic impact in landscape of the vicinity of St. Petersburg was investigated. The species of the subgenus Monoculicoides could be used as bioindicators of the environmental pollution.

[Radiotherapy of malignant salivary gland tumors].

The results of treatment of 230 patients with different malignant tumors of the greater salivary glands (adenocystic carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, mucoepidermoid tumor, undifferentiated carcinoma, carcinoma in pleomorphous adenoma, epidermoid carcinoma, etc.) were analysed. Altogether 177 patients received combination treatment and 53 radiation therapy as a single modality.
