Serum albumin is a popular macromolecule for studying the effect of proteins on the colloidal stability of nanoparticle (NP) dispersions, as well as the protein-nanoparticle interaction and protein corona formation. In this work, we analyze the specific conformation-dependent phase, redox, and fatty acid delivery properties of bovine albumin in the presence of shungite carbon (ShC) molecular graphenes stabilized in aqueous dispersions in the form of NPs in order to reveal the features of NP bioactivity. The formation of NP complexes with proteins (protein corona around NP) affects the transport properties of albumin for the delivery of fatty acids.

The bioactivity of the natural ultrafine carbon form shungite nanocarbon (ShC) is of particular interest both for biomedical applications of such nanomaterials and their negative impact on the aquatic environmental. Here we studied the interaction of serum albumin (SA) with ShC nanoparticles in aqueous dispersion with respect to its structural-dynamic, thermodynamic, and hydrodynamic effects. Electron spin resonance (EPR) with a 5-DOXYL-stearic acid spin probe (5DSA) demonstrates that ShC can affect fatty acid (FA) binding by SA, protein conformation in the stearic FA spin probe binding region, and protein aggregation due to the partial transfer of FA to the ShC nanoparticles.

Currently, no molecular biological markers do exist for early diagnosis of breast cancer. One of the possible candidates for the marker of early breast cancer is mammaglobin (MGB1) or SCGB2A2 (secretoglobin, family 2A, member 2), characterized by the maximal expression level in early breast cancer. Using the RT-PCR method MGB1 mRNA expression was examined in 57 tumor tissue samples and 57 samples of morphologically non-malignant tissue (MNT) of breast cancer (BC) patients.

Breast cancer is the first most common cancer among women. Its increasingly threatening trends force to search for ways to accelerate the introduction of current technologies for the early diagnosis and prevention of breast malignancies. The paper gives data on the quantity and distribution of diagnostic and minimally invasive mammography equipment by the regions of the Russian Federation, which may lead to the conclusion about the regions’ needs for equipment, trends, and possible prospects in the development of digital radiology in mammology.

The paper considers the issues of manpower training in X-ray mammology. It mentions staff shortage and no special training, which reduces the efficient activities of X-ray mammographic rooms, as well as shortage of training facilities and no unified educational programs within interdisciplinary integration, inadequate technical equipment in the training facilities, the lack of an accounting system for training higher- and mid-level health workers, as well as engineers. Emphasis is placed on that the educational programs must comply with the organizational forms of testing the specialists to be employed.
