Ultradian oscillations in the number of karyocytes isolated from the femoral bone of intact ACR mice have been demonstrated. The periodicity of oscillations did not depend on the season or the site of mice breeding. The bone marrow also showed ultradian oscillations in relative and absolute amount of lymphoid, myeloid and mitotic cells.

Meanwhile the newborn recipients of the tumor do not develop leukemoid response but manifest physiological changes in the hemopoietic tissue normally occurring within the first weeks after birth. The sensitized cells of the spleen of the adult tumor-bearing mice enhance tumor growth in the newborn recipients and inhibit it in the adult mice.

Tumor cells disseminate throughout the body appearing in many organs including the spleen, liver, bone marrow and lymph nodes. The activity of adenosine deaminase and the adenosine deaminase/purine nucleosidephosphorylase ratio decrease in the host thymus as well as in the cellular elements of the spleen.
