Background: Patients discharged to non-home facilities (NHD) after total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee (TKA) arthroplasty experience higher rates of adverse events and may require more aggressive venous thromboembolism (VTE) chemoprophylaxis. Our aim was to compare the rates of VTE in NHD patients and those discharged home (HD) after THA/TKA. Our secondary aim was to determine VTE rates within HD and NHD groups when stratified by chemoprophylactic regimen.

Introduction: Child maltreatment (physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect and exposure to domestic violence) is widely understood to be associated with multiple mental health disorders, physical health problems and health risk behaviours throughout life. However, Australia lacks fundamental evidence about the prevalence and characteristics of child maltreatment, its associations with mental disorders and physical health, and the associated burden of disease. These evidence gaps impede the development of public health strategies to better prevent and respond to child maltreatment.

Population health data is crucial to this work.
