Solid-cystic (papillary-cystic) tumours (SCT) of the pancreas are distinctive neoplasms with a predilection for young female patients. This is the first detailed report describing the occurrence of SCT in two young male patients. Except for the extapancreatic occurrence of one of the tumours (in the retroperitoneal region behind the head of the pancreas), all other clinicopathological features were identical to those characterizing the SCT in women.

Background data on the presumed etiology and common symptoms are provided. The diagnostic value of computed tomography for preoperative detection of the fibrosis surrounding these aneurysms and the differentiation from other conditions are also discussed.

Reduction mammoplasty was performed on 273 patients for cosmetic or psychological reasons, or owing to inconvenience, such as back pain. In 159 patients both a preoperative mammography and a morphological examination of the specimen was performed and the results compared. Three patients with cancer were found.

Two normal glial lines and four selected malignant glioma lines--considered as representative of the varying morphologies previously found among these lines--were studied quantitatively as to their translocatory ability on glass under standard culture conditions. The two glial lines showed very similar characteristics with almost identical results for total and net translocation, as well as in their directional persistence. The glioma lines gave values for these criteria which were either greater or lower than those of the glial cells.
