Introduction: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Star Ratings system pushes Medicare Advantage health plans to achieve ever greater attainments in key metrics, including adherence to hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase inhibitor (statins), renin-angiotensin system (RAS) antagonist, and noninsulin antihyperglycemic (DM) medications. The purpose of this observational study was to evaluate the impact of expanding a $0 copayment (copay) benefit from mail order-only to mail order plus retail pharmacies on adherence to statin, RAS, and DM medications.

Methods: Medicare beneficiaries with and without a $0 copay expansion who received ≥ 1 dispensing of a generic, CMS Star Ratings RAS, statin, and/or DM medication during both 2021 and 2022 were included.

Induction of broad, durable immune responses is a challenge in HIV vaccine development. HVTN 100 Part A administered subtype C-containing ALVAC-HIV at months 0 and 1, and ALVAC-HIV with bivalent subtype C gp120/MF59 at months 3, 6 and 12. As IgG binding antibody and T-cell responses were similar or greater at month 12.

High-performance, resource-efficient methods for plasma amyloid-β (Aβ) quantification in Alzheimer's disease are lacking; existing mass spectrometry-based assays are resource- and time-intensive. We developed a streamlined mass spectrometry method with a single immunoprecipitation step, an optimized buffer system, and ≤75% less antibody requirement. Analytical and clinical performances were compared with an in-house reproduced version of a well-known two-step assay.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK with over 50 000 new cases diagnosed each year and although therapeutic advances in surgery, anti-androgens, radio- and chemotherapy have increased survival rates, there still remains a need for new treatments to combat the most aggressive forms of the disease. Gene therapy offers promise as an alternative approach but is reliant on selective targeting to the cancer cell surface. Herein we describe the novel construction of a prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) binding bioconjugate-polyplex, based on a glutamate-urea peptide scaffold using 'click' chemistry, which we demonstrate is capable of targeted delivery of a GFP gene to PSMA overexpressing prostate cancer cells, and therefore may have potential future application as part of a prostate cancer gene delivery therapy.

Biofilm formation is integral to the pathogenesis of numerous adherent bacteria and contributes to antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The rising threat of AMR means the need to develop novel nonbactericidal antiadhesion approaches against such bacteria is more urgent than ever. Both adherent-invasive (AIEC, implicated in inflammatory bowel disease) and uropathogenic (UPEC, responsible for ∼80% of urinary tract infections) adhere to terminal mannose sugars on epithelial glycoproteins through the FimH adhesin on their type 1 pilus.
