The Effect of Dental Flossing Instructions and Technique on Interproximal Bleeding: A randomized control trial.

Dental floss has been promoted reduce the effects from interdental microbial biofilm, however its efficacy has been questioned in the literature. The purpose of this study was to compare daily flossing instructions using an adapted horizontal vertical flossing technique (AHVFT) and routine oral hygiene on gingival inflammation as indicated by bleeding on probing (BoP). This randomized single-blinded controlled clinical trial was conducted with non-smoking adults presenting with gingivitis and no other systemic diseases.

An In Vitro Pilot Study on the Effects of Silver Diamine Fluoride on Periodontal Pathogens and Three-Dimensional Scaffolds of Human Fibroblasts and Epithelial Cells.

Objective: The aims of this study were to investigate the antibacterial and cytotoxic effects of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) on periodontal pathogens and human skin constructs, respectively.

Background: SDF has been proven to have bactericidal effects on cariogenic bacteria. No studies to date evaluated the bactericidal effects of SDF on periodontal pathogens nor its effect on epithelium and fibroblasts.

Factors affecting dental students' postgraduate plans: A multi-site study.

Purpose: This multi-site study examined dental students' postgraduate plans and factors affecting them, perceptions of pathways with the best future, and whether those postgraduate plans changed during dental school.

Methods: An online survey was made available to all four dental classes (2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021) and advanced standing/international dental students at eight US dental schools. The survey questionnaire consisted of two parts: (1) 14 questions pertaining to demographic information and (2) 11 questions pertaining to career path choices and possible influencing factors.

Characterizing Microbiota from Sjögren's Syndrome Patients.

Objective: To compare the oral microbiota of Sjögren's syndrome (SS) with that of healthy subjects (HS).

Methods: Supragingival and subgingival biofilm samples were collected from the mesial-buccal tooth surfaces of SS patients (n = 57) and age- and sex-matched HS (n = 53). Unstimulated saliva and 8 oral tissue samples were taken using a buccal brush.
