Computer assisted tomography (CT) is a new radiographic technique, which displays a transverse representation of a slice of the body. The resulting images have a remarkable capacity for density resolution. In Neuroradiology, the use of CT is well established and it is becoming more and more often utilized for orthopaedic investigations.

The in vitro phagocytic activity from PMNL against eight different Klebsiella strains, isolated from clinical material, was investigated and the K-index calculated for fifteen patients from a surgical intensive care unit. The hemagglutinating antibody titers against the test strains, as well as the serum concentrations of IgM, IgG, C3 and C4 were also determined. At the time of the investigation all patients had symptoms of a severe general infection.
